Chicago Tribune (IL) - August 15, 1949 

Deceased Name: Robert Ganschow 
Robert Ganschow, 21, of 5300 Congress st., was shot fatally last night by a close friend, 
Lee A. Grose, 23, in Grose's home at 5421 N. Linder av. Police said the shooting was accidental.
Grose told Detective Michael Yordon that he took a .38 caliber revolver from his collection of 
about two dozen firearms and was preparing to hand it to Ganschow when it was discharged accidentally. 
The bullet struck Ganschow in the stomach. He was pronounced dead at Swedish Covenant hospital.
Both the victim and Grose served in the armed forces in World War II. Ganschow was the son of 
Edward Ganschow, retired policeman, and a nephew of Policeman George Ganschow of the Jefferson Park station.
Grose, a printer, was held pending an inquest at 9:30 a.m. today at 2500 N. Cicero av. Ganschow 
was a clerk in Madigan Brothers department store, 4030 Madison st.
